UC Davis receives record $120m gift for veterinary school
The University of California, Davis, has announced the largest gift ever made to veterinary medicine worldwide: $120m from philanthropists Joan and Sanford I. Weill through the Weill Family Foundation. The gift will fund new facilities, expanded research and increased clinical capacity at UC Davis’ top-ranked veterinary school, which has been renamed the UC Davis Joan and Sanford I. Weill School of Veterinary Medicine in recognition of the donation. “By naming our veterinary school in Joan and Sandy’s honor, we celebrate their transformative generosity and lasting commitment to improve the health of all species,” UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May said.
